​PURPOSE:  Covington business, Ooh La Bra, presents “You Night:  Straps for a Cause”, the 2nd annual St. Tammany Parish “Cancer Overcomer Runway Show", celebrating the positive spirit of cancer overcomers.  Held in partnership with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, the event raises proceeds to benefit the Cancer Center, and to make this event and empowering experience possible for the participants.

​​​​MODELS: The participants are not professional models, but local St. Tammany Parish residents who have overcome cancer.  Last year's sold out crowd of over 600 attendees was emotional and uplifting, as the models who took the stage became heroes and roll models in the eyes of all who were in attendance.  Each of the models participated in 7 weeks of professional runway, model, pose and print training from Creating U Model, Filmmaking and Talent Agency.

​OUTREACH:  The event, which started as a breast cancer awareness event, has grown to encompass all cancer overcomers.  This event is an opportunity to raise proceeds that will further the cause of educating residents in the St. Tammany Parish on cancer preventative education and services, and to donate to support services for patients who are receiving treatment and care.  The project is part of St. Tammany Parish business, "Ooh La Bra" and their "Straps for a Cause" Empowerment Projects.  The company recognizes the role it can play in positively impacting the lives of women worldwide by motivating and empowering women to excel through economic empowerment, health awareness and spiritual enrichment.  The company believes that when other women are empowered to excel, the circle of self-motivation and self-empowerment will in turn positively impact other women in their communities and society as a whole.

 

​PROCEEDS:  Sponsor donations will help make this event possible for the participating models.  Additionally, a portion of the funds generated from this show will be donated to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at the St. Tammany Parish Hospital (see "Sponsorship Packages" for donation amounts).

Thursday, October 9th at the Fleur de Lis Center in Mandeville.  Welcome Reception 6 p.m., Runway Show 7:20 p.m.  Post Party 8:20 p.m.  General Admission price is $125.
