Lisa McKenzie is the Founder and CEO of Ooh La Bra, a Northshore business (recognized as a top New Orleans ‘Entrepreneur of the Year for 2013”). The company sells women’s fashion accessories and can be found at boutiques across the country. Best known for its beautiful line of designer bra straps, the company’s motto “We Lift You Up” was created because the product not only physically supports women who are wearing strapless bras, but also makes women feel beautiful. Ooh La Bra created the “Straps for a Cause” foundation, recognizing the role it can play in positively impacting the lives of women worldwide. The company’s foundation mission is, “To Motivate and Empower Women to Excel through: Economic Empowerment, Health Awareness, and Spiritual Enrichment.” The company believes that when other women are empowered to excel, the circle of self-motivation and self-empowerment will in turn positively impact other women in their communities and society as a whole.” The Survivor Runway Project is an example of this kind of empowering experience for women.
Lisa's mom, Elaine (now 72 years old), was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and has been breast cancer free for 26 years. Elaine was one of the 24 models who participated in the 2013 runway show.
